The tamper's stainless steel base with pressure surface can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Hand washing is recommended for the tamper handle.
Whether the hand tamper fits your filter machine depends on the sieve diameter. Tip for precise tamping: the coffee powder should be pressed with as little residual surface area as possible.
How to correctly tamp espresso step by step: Measure out the powder and press it into the sieve, making sure that the pressure is even. Gently tap the base of the stainless steel tamper against the sieve to remove excess coffee grounds from edges, etc. Place the pressure surface on the powder again and turn the tamper. This creates an evenly smooth surface and thus a better crema.
If several espressos are to be prepared, e.g. for guests or for a shared morning coffee, a knock container is recommended. This allows the coffee puck to be knocked out of the filter head quickly and cleanly and you can press the next portion of coffee straight away.
